As a developer at UPS you work on delivering functionality for highly complex IT systems. You collaborate in agile teams and participate in emerging technologies and processes like CI/CD and DevOps to ensure that we meet our objectives effectively and efficiently. Your primary role is to perform full system life cycle activities, e.g. analysis, technical requirements, design, coding, testing and the implementation of software.
Working in our Europe development center in Eindhoven means working in an international team with onsite people as well as team members located in other parts of the world. As a System Install Engineer you are together with your team responsible for the world wide installation of high tech machines on site in accordance with strict quality norms and a strict delivery schedule.
Job Description
Equipment qualification of the source vessel at the customer site :
- Perform source integration tests (calibrations and system qualification)
- Work together with other install teams
- Contribute to the improvement loop of the installation processes;
- Represent the company at the customer site in a professional way incl. cultural awareness;
- Expected to travel 60 - 75% of the time to customers worldwide;
- Expected to work inside the clean room, working with mechanical and electrical equipment.
Education
Master starter (Mechatronics/Electronics/Physics preferred)
Hands on experience is very important.
Experience
- High level of technical understanding and commitment to self learning;
- Being open minded, team player and be able to use your own initiative (self-sufficient);
- Troubleshooting and solving system failures (Note : Utilizing your own system knowledge and engineering techniques including contacting support engineering when required);
- Must speak/read/write English;

This Workflow System engineer is positioned as technical intermediate between our Life Science customers, Business unit Life Science and the New Product Introduction teams, ensuring understanding of the Life science user cases and customer’s requirements and translating them into product requirements. This process involves multiple interconnected hardware and software systems to prepare and qualify samples, recording vast amounts of data and images, and processing the collected data into meaningful information, e.g. through 3D reconstruction. The mission of the Workflow Engineer is to prove and improve the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the ‘sample to information’ process with a focus on the sample preparation phase of the workflow. You will work on understanding the end-user issues, use cases, future needs on sample preparation; then translating them in product requirements and / or functions; then verifying that the solutions are indeed fulfilling the insights by means of market data analysis. Interaction and communication skills with other groups within R&D and other functions like application specialists or field service engineers are extremely important to deliver final results.
The position is part of a multi-disciplinary group with several technical leads and project managers, is ideal for a person driven by pioneering on methodology and sample preparation innovation. The position will report solid into R&D and dotted into the Architect of the Single Particle Analysis workflow.
